The land of Mewar, besides being the land of birth and work of the brave Maharana Pratap, is known and recognized throughout the world because of the natural beauty at every step.

The land here has that confluence of religious and historical trinity along with the blood of heroes, just experiencing which gives a feeling of pride in the mind.

Today we take you to one such glorious place which has religious as well as historical importance. This place is Jaldevi temple of Rajsamand district which is also said to be directly related to Maharana Pratap.

Due to the arrival of Emperor Akbar during the Mughal period, this place is also known as Badshah Magri. There is a legend that Emperor Akbar had camped at this place, and it was from here that Akbar challenged Maharana Pratap.

Maharana Pratap reached here in response to Akbar's challenge. Akbar had fallen asleep as it was already night. Maharana received the blessings of Jaldevi Mata and instead of attacking Akbar, he answered her challenge by cutting off Akbar's mustache while he was sleeping.

This place is located inside a pond in Sansera village near Dariba in Rajsamand district. From here the distance of Railmagra town is about 15 kilometers and the distance of Fatehnagar is about 20 kilometers.

There is a big door on the side to enter the temple. There is a cenotaph near this door. The chhatris here are considered to be from the Mughal period.

After entering the door, the temple is reached through a foot bridge. A two-storey temple of Mata is built in front of the bridge. The temple is built like a cenotaph in which the upper floor is completely seen in the form of a cenotaph.

The original statue of Mata is on the first floor only. When there is good rain, this pond gets completely filled and the first floor of the temple gets submerged in water.

Generally, the original idol of Mata cannot be seen as it is submerged under water throughout the year, hence the form of Mata is built on the second floor of the temple. All the devotees worship this form of Mother Goddess only.

It is said that whoever comes here with a true heart, his wishes are definitely fulfilled. Here, along with completing some of the rites of passage, the children are brought to seek the blessings of the Mother Goddess.

A large quantity of coconut is offered as Prasad which is distributed among all the devotees. There is also a Havan Kund for Yagya and religious activities.

Due to its location in the middle of water, the natural beauty of this place is also visible from here. During the rainy season, the presence of Mother Water Goddess is actually felt here.

There are big fishes present in the water of the pond. Fish of such large size are not commonly seen. It is said that these fish are present in this pond throughout the year.

Fishes are considered to be related to Mother Water Goddess, hence fishes are preserved here.

Due to Maharana Pratap's connection with this place, his statue was installed on one bank of the pond in the year 2018. This statue is quite grand and adds to the importance of this place.

The temple is looked after by Shri Jaldevi Mata Vikas Samiti whose office is in front of the temple.
